Back on home soil, she built one of Australia’s best salons. Only a few years into business, Paloma Roan grew into a seven-figure salon brand, a talented team, and a name known worldwide for effortless, lived-in hair.
Then she did it all again. Mikki packed up her life, moved to the United States, and rebuilt her clientele from the ground up, first in Los Angeles and now in Austin, Texas, where she leads her salon, Paloma Roan from abroad.
With over 17 years behind the chair, Mikki is known for chic, considered cuts, elevated natural color, and modern bridal hair that feels as beautiful in person as it does on camera. Her work has appeared in Harper's Bazaar, Russh and Marie Claire, and she now travels worldwide for weddings and events.
Beyond the chair, Mikki is a global educator and business mentor, and the host of The Mane Edit podcast. She helps stylists and salon owners build businesses that are as beautiful as the hair they create.

THE BUSINESS
Founder & President, Paloma Roan
Mikki opened her first salon, Mikki Auld Hairdressing, in Woolloongabba, Brisbane in 2017. In 2019 she moved into a larger space and rebranded as Paloma Roan. Within two years she had grown it into a seven-figure business with healthy profit margins, without a PR team or outside investment.
Paloma Roan is now one of Australia’s best-known luxury sustainable salons. It was voted Brisbane’s best hair salon (Style Mag, 2023) and has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, RUSSH, Fashion Journal, InStyle, Refinery29, Mane Addicts and the UK Daily Mail. Mikki has employed more than 50 team members, trained 20 apprentices and built a client base of over 10,000.
As Owner and President, Mikki leads the business from Austin. She oversees P&L, cash-flow forecasting, budgeting and capital investment. She also sets pricing, service margins and retail structure, and directs marketing, brand and creative. A dedicated Salon Manager runs the floor day to day, while Mikki designs the team’s compensation tiers, commission structures and education pathways. She has built brand partnerships with Kevin Murphy, OWAY and Original Mineral, and has served as a Redken Ambassador and Educator.
Mikki also coaches stylists and salon owners. More than 50 have gone through her online program, Standout Salon Academy, which covers branding, marketing, systems, team leadership and finance. Since 2023 she has hosted The Mane Edit, a podcast for beauty professionals.
