Why I started this blog…

So many of my favourite online creators live in the US - there are endless western content creators that share their idyllic, country lifestyles and I feel like it’s something that’s really lacking in Aus. When my partner and I traveled to the states in 2023, I connected with so many Texan based brands and creators - I realised how big the gap was back here at home. Growing up in South-West Queensland you’d be labelled a ‘try hard’ for wearing a cowboy hat and boots but there, it’s something to be celebrated.

Recently, there was an event in Malibu Canyon and I thought seriously about buying flights over for the weekend. Essentially, it’s a three day festival that showcases Western artisans, musicians, designers, poets, photographers and so on… There’s a rodeo, campfire dinner, live music, roping events and cutting workshops - it’s for everyone and anyone wanting to learn more about ‘cowboy culture’ and traditional western practices. How f**king cool is that?

America is a place that my partner and I will travel to regularly and we have plans to one day do a stint there (pending visa situation) and I intend on documenting our experience while we are there. But for now, while I’m here in Australia, I'll make a head start. My aim is to keep you all up to date with things I am wearing, brands I’m loving and country day trips I insist you take.

I’m not sure how far I want to take this blog or new way of creating content, but I do hope to build a community here. Surely, I’m not the only one who’s obsessed with a slower, western way of living -

Maybe my posts and newsletters can help others find brands, places, events and music they love.. Then who knows where that community could lead me, somewhere that brings all of us more of what we love, I hope!

Ps; I’m so nervous to be showing up differently online, this is something I’ve wanted to do for some time but I’ve been afraid that I’ll be speaking to no one. SO, if you’re here and reading this - thank you for taking the time and if you’ve subscribed, teary smiles to you.

I hope you get something from my words, guides and ramblings x
