Prairie dresses to buy this Spring...

Here is a list of 5 dresses that will most definitely be hitting my shopping cart this season...

Hi, hello from my mother’s farm in Upper Freestone, Scenic Rim - I’ve been here for four blissful days now after flying back from cold, bleak Melbourne early Monday morning.

The weather is starting to warm up and we’ve been outside, riding horses and picking wildflowers everyday since arriving. It’s always cold here in the early mornings, until the sun cracks over the ridges and when that happens, the entire property glistens gold - there really is nothing quite like a morning cuppa, watching the cattle graze and dogs siesta in the sun.

Yesterday, we headed to Stanthorpe - my favourite antique and vintage store is there, Vintage Roads. It’s a large warehouse with great antique furniture, jewellery and pre-loved fashion. Everything is so reasonably priced and in excellent condition. I picked up a vintage slip dress, a couple of y2k skirts, a large scale painting of wild brumbies and an antique timber chair with a tiled rose detail. I highly recommend making a trip out, as it beats all of the antique and vintage stores in the city where the prices are through the roof.

Though today, I’m practicing my cutting skills (I’m still pretty terrible) and am designing an AirBnb to place in the back paddock that backs onto a ridge, overlooking the plains. Every time I post photos or videos of this place, I’m inundated with messages from friends asking to come and visit - and there aren’t many farm stays out here… I plan to share our design ideas with you here - plus, link any furniture antique stores or markets you should pop on your list of places to visit. Stay tuned!

I figure my partner and I might as well build our dream, ‘sometimes house’ as we’re probably quite a few million off securing our forever home in Northern Rivers hinterland. Not a bad idea, right?

Anyway, forgive my ramblings - here is a list of 5 dresses that will most definitely be hitting my shopping cart this season. From cheap and cheerful to sustainably luxe, there’s something for all budgets. I recommend pairing with cowboy boots (of course) or, these motorcycle boots I’m currently lusting over (and buying asap)

Biggest love Darlin’s - from my favourite little slice of hillbilly heaven.

x Mikki
