Frequently Asked Questions

Hi darlin'! Here are the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, please reach out at hello@mikkiauld.com — we're always happy to help.

Getting Here

Where is the salon?

You'll find me at Sienna House, 913 W Mary Street, Austin, TX.

Where do I park?

Parking is available on site, and there's also street parking nearby.

Booking & Pricing

How do I book?

You can book online here. Visiting from LA? Check out our LA Pop-Ups page for upcoming dates.

How much will my service cost?

Pricing depends on time, hair length and how much product is needed, so every client is a little different. Our Price Guide is a great starting point, and we recommend a consultation for an accurate quote before beginning any service. If extra product is needed on the day, that cost is passed on.

Are there card fees?

Yes — credit card and card reader charges are passed on to the guest.

Can I bring a friend or my kids?

To keep the space relaxing for everyone, we ask that only clients receiving a service attend, unless arranged beforehand. Our salon isn't set up for young children or extra guests.

Cancellations, Rescheduling & Running Late

What's your cancellation policy?

We know life happens! We just ask for as much notice as possible so we can offer your spot to another guest. Cancelling or rescheduling within 72 hours incurs a fee of 50% of the booked service. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged 100% of the booked service. Any late cancellation or rescheduling fees need to be paid before booking your next appointment.

What if I'm running late?

If you're more than 20 minutes late and we need to reschedule, it's treated as a last-minute cancellation. Please give us a heads up if you're held up.

What if I'm sick?

Please reschedule — we completely understand. Just note that same-day cancellations still fall under the policy above, so the earlier you let us know, the better. We may refuse service in cases of contagious illness or scalp concerns that could affect your safety or others'.

Before Your Appointment

What should I bring?

Reference photos! For color, look for inspo with a natural base similar to your own — the same goes for haircuts, look at the density and texture of your reference. Not sure what to look for? We're here to help.

Do I need to tell you about past treatments?

Yes, please — it's essential for your safety and your result. Let us know if you've had keratin, protein or smoothing treatments, hair "botox" or glossing, bond builders (e.g. K18, Olaplex), henna or metallic dyes, fashion/vivid color, at-home or box color, chemical straightening or perming, or lots of previous bleaching/lightening. These can change how your hair lifts, tones and holds color, and undisclosed history can lead to uneven lift, compromised condition or unexpected results. We need to know all of it, even if that box dye was 5 years ago.

Do I need a test strand?

If any of the above applies to you, or your hair is very porous or compromised, we strongly recommend one.

What should I wear?

We take every precaution to protect your clothes, but color and lightener can occasionally stain or leave bleach marks. Wearing something you're not precious about is a good idea, and please keep your cape or gown on properly throughout your service.

Your Results

Will I get my dream hair in one appointment?

Sometimes! Depending on your hair history and condition, it may take a few sessions to get there safely. Hair health always comes first — if we don't think your goal can be reached safely in one go, we'll suggest alternatives or a more gradual plan.

What products do you use?

We use the highest standard brands, including Redken, OWAY, K18 and Original Mineral.

What if I'm not in love with my hair?

Please tell us — don't feel bad! We offer complimentary adjustments, which must be requested within 7 days and completed within 14 days of your original appointment. Adjustments are at the stylist's discretion and don't apply if the result was affected by undisclosed chemical history or unrealistic expectations.

Do you offer refunds?

We don't offer refunds on services. Products can be exchanged if they're unused and unopened.

How do I look after my color?

Aftercare is key to keeping your color healthy and lasting. We'll recommend professional products during your appointment. Be careful buying from third-party storefronts, as some products aren't authentic — shop through our preferred online providers and brands, or ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.

Privacy

What do you do with my information?

We only use your details (name, contact info and service history) to look after you — appointment reminders, tailoring your service, and salon updates if you've opted in. We never share or sell your information, and you can ask us to update or remove it anytime.
